Edinburgh Castle is a medieval masterpiece and a must-see on your next trip to Scotland. Home to many royal kings and queens for centuries, Edinburgh Castle is one of the most famous sights in Western Europe; Walk in the footsteps of history and come face-to-face with groundbreaking military artifacts, Crown jewels, and ancient vaults.

A visit to Edinburgh Castle

  1. Immerse yourself in a Fight for the Castle - An immersive exhibition that carries you through the drama of Edinburgh during the Wars of Independence

  2. See the Honours of Scotland (Crown Jewels)

  3. Explore the Royal Palace, where kings and queens lived throughout history. Check out a video of the apartments here!

  4. Check out the Stone of Destiny, upon which the ancient Scottish kings were crowned

  5. Pay your respects at St. Margaret’s Chapel - from the 12th century, reputed to be the oldest building in Edinburgh

  6. Spend time in the Scottish National War Memorial and the Great Hall - its famed roof consists of giant wooden beams resting on stones carved with the badge of Scotland

  7. At lunchtime, watch the firing of the One O’Clock Gun over Princes Street

  8. Replenish your energy with a pit stop at The Tea Room, or the Redcoat Cafe for snacks, afternoon tea, or a full meal!
