Wildlife Adventures in Riviera Maya

Mexico is a popular destination for travelers from all over the world. Riviera Maya, located on Mexico’s northeastern Yucatán Peninsula, is said to be one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the western Caribbean. Famous for its miles of lush rainforest filled with exotic wildlife, coral reefs, varied marine life, ancient Mayan treasures, and ecological wonders, you need to experience the eco-splendors of Mexico.

This week-long immersive itinerary in the Riviera Maya will make all your wildlife dreams come true!

Day 1 - Arrive in Mexico

Arrive in Mexico and take private transportation to your hotel or resort.

  • ELx Travel sells some of the top all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, that range from super luxury to family-friendly and budget properties.

  • While we recommend all-inclusive resorts for their convenience and options, there are also many hotel-style stays, villas, and unique properties we can book for you!

Day 2 -

Try something new and exciting to start off your trip!

  • Enjoy breakfast at the marina off the Gulf of Mexico, while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

  • Then experience the opportunity to swim with whale sharks, the world's largest fish. Snorkel with them in their natural habitat with a professional guide. Enjoy lunch on board as you sail back to the marina.

Day 3 -

Experience a full day of excitement, discovery, and adventure at one of the many eco-archaeological parks.

  • Ecoparks such as Xcaret, Xel-ha, and Xplor offer a variety of wildlife adventures and activities, zip lining, snorkeling, swimming in cenotes, and more! Each park offers something different and combo tickets can be purchased to explore them all!

  • Enjoy the free food that is offered at the eco-parks, or stop at a local hot spot on the way back to your hotel or resort.

ELx Travel co-founder, Emily, has been to all three eco-parks, but her favorite was ziplining on one of Mexico's longest ziplines and ATVing through the jungle at Xplor Park! See some of her highlights below (ATVing, Swimming in Cenotes, Snorkeling with Nurse Sharks).

Day 4 -

After a few days of high-energy activities, take it easy today and truly enjoy the nature around you.

  • Start the day with a relaxing Horseback Ride through the jungle and forested trails. Feel the wind through your hair and take in all the beautiful sights and smells of the flora and fauna.

  • Continue to relax and awaken your senses at the Muluk Spa. Located in a unique cavern, this holistic experience will leave you feeling rejuvenated and reconnected to yourself and nature.

Day 5 -

It’s time to do any other things you’ve wanted to do before you depart!

  • Archaeology buffs shouldn't miss the Mayan ruins at Tulum, Muyil, and Coba. You can plan an easy day trip to see the ruins and meet other travelers along the way.

  • Or take a trip to the rainforest and visit the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, an undiscovered gem of the Riviera Maya. This UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve protects more than 350 species of birds, plants, fish, and other animal life that make up the rainforests of the Yucatan.

  • End your trip with a Sunset Dinner Cruise or enjoy dinner at a local hot spot such as Restaurant Frida or Restaurant Chaká.

Day 6 - Depart Mexico

Unfortunately, all trips must come to an end and you must return home.
